WOH prot monk looking for tips.
Hi! I'm returning to GW after a 3-year break. I've decided to re-take the mantle of the monk and I've set my eyes on this generic build:
Word hybrid:
Required:
[skill]shield of absorption[/skill][skill]reversal of fortune[/skill][skill]word of healing[/skill][skill]glyph of lesser energy[/skill]
Choose one:
[skill]protective spirit[/skill] or [skill]spirit bond[/skill]
Optionals:
[skill]cure hex[/skill][skill]dismiss condition[/skill][skill]heal party[/skill][skill]seed of life[/skill][skill]"I am unstoppable"[/skill][skill]aegis[/skill]
10+2 healing, 10+1 divine, 11+1 prot (if aegis)
Currently, I'm running with 10+1 healing 10+1 divine and 9+2 prot (I'm at work so I might be a bit off with these numbers here, will update asap). I'm wielding Kepkhet's Refuge and my selection of skills is as follows:
Shield of absorption; RoF; WOH; Glyph of LE; Seed of life; Aegis; Dismiss condition.
I own all of the GW expansions and what I'm looking for is a bit of advice on what places would present me with a good opportunity of surviving and farming a bit of cash on the side.
Basically, with the stuff I have what are my options in terms of PVE?
I must confess that I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the influx of new information and all the left-over quests that were there to meet me on my return to the game.
P.S.: Should I keep farming for Jayne's staff? I think I could better benefit from a bit of hp instead of the +5 energy.

Go 8+1 divine, 12+1 healing and 11+1 prot (if I'm not mistaken on numbers, this can be done)
your bar is fine, but forget seed of life and I am Unstoppable. Cure hex & dismiss are fine, as a personal option I let my heroes take care of conditions while I carry out hex removal (since arcane conundrum/migraine/frustration are more dangerous than a simple daze)
You should consider bringing guardian, aegis and signet of rejuvenation (cheap & strong heal), those are my favourites. Also, you can replace RoF with patient spirit.
Don't need to farm Jayne's Staff, Kepkhet's Refuge is the perfect weapon for any prot build, you can stick with it just fine. However, you won't be able to run patient spirit with it, since it'll increase its duration (yes, 20% of 2sec does make a difference).
as for general stuff, a 40/40 heal set would be nice the ideal choice when dealing with healing prayers in general, specially when you can throw a cure hex in 1sec while hexed with migraine (I know this is kinda extreme, but, whatever, its the truth). martial weapon + shield sets are also good to have along, a +5e/20% enchant with a +30hp shield and another set with a +5e/+30hp for a high HP se

If you're returning after a 3 year break, you could probably make an easy 50k selling your minipets. Aside from that, I'd say join a good guild who do regular dungeon runs and hope you find some good items.

Yeah, thanks Monk to Many, it appears that I have an Eye of Janthir, so I'll probably put a stop to any cash farming for a while. If anyone's interested, I posted an 8-hour auction on Ventari's just now...
Three cheers for Monk to Many!

Also consider the newly buffed Healing Burst. For example 12+1+1 Heal, 8+1 Prot, 10+1 Divine, this skill heals for 150+35+35 direct target, and rest of party for 35. It's great for countering mass degen, it's fairly spammable, self targetable, and you can often omit heal party in favor for more prot, utility or e-management.
Skill example:
* Healing Burst
Dwayna's Kiss
Cure Hex
Dismiss Condition
Shield of Absorption
Protective Spirit
Aegis
Seed of Life
Optional e-management:
Selfless Spirit, great skill for e-management allowing more spamming of Prot Spirit.

* Healing burst needs 8+ DF to shine (8 DF=+26 every 4 seconds = 3.25 HP regen) and 13DF is even better, with +42 . +4HP from DF breakpoints are 8 and 13.
* WoH doesn't need 8+DF as much and gets a higher Heal when targets <50% (also it has 1 less recharge).
Healing burst is my option in areas with 8 people. WoH is best for 4-6 man.
Re: nonelites
* D-Kiss is an option on any bar for healing, patient is another option. You don't want to use these skills most of the time since Burst is +140 or +150. On a WoH bar, Patient heals more if target is >50% HP. Yous ee this is PvP a lot (WoH + Patient).
* Cure hex is an option on non-UA bars, since you will rarely remove a stack with Deny hexes (you don't have DH+HD so it's only deny and at best one other DF skill).
* Seed of life is a must more or less. It doesn't matter what monk bar it is. Seed of life counters heavy focus fire/mobbing.
* SoA is good, 10+ Prot gets you 6 seconds base + 1 from enchanting mods
* Prot spirit is always good. Probably the best monk skill. However, Eles with Ether Renewal can spam it more. You only need 6+1 prot for 13 seconds base (15.6 seconds after enchanting mod). Even 3+1 gets you 10 seconds base (12 with enchanting mod) which is more than Spirit Bond's 8 seconds. Prot Spirit also is a DP buffer since it gets better with DP.
* Aegis is especially good in areas where there are physicals+ casters with long recharges (they wand a lot). I just wouldn't pump it to 12spec, I'd keep it at 9-10 spec(if using SoA).
E-management
* Your bar never needs Glyph of lesser energy unless you run Heal Party or something 10-15 energy with fairly low cooldown. Aegis is on 30 cooldown so unless you spam heals, Selfless Spirit will help more since it reduces 3 energy cost off all your targeted heals/spells.
Prot level
You don't need to pump prot past 10 really...RC and RoF are kind of exceptions. RoF is ridiculously hard to pull off in PVE. You might get a +20-30 sometimes (autoattack damage) so you don't need to pump it that high. I hardly use Spirit Bond since with 10 procs it gets used up rather quickly. Just 3 mobs on a person will use it up in ~3-4 seconds in Hard mode. At damages between 60 to 130 Spirit bond (60 to 120 if you are 455HP) at 10 prot does better than Prot spirit provided the damage doesn't use up all 10 heals of spirit bond. At 14, it is better than PS at 60-150 damage (60 to 140 if you are 455HP).

I'd run DoA or FoW, with a group. Solo farming doesn't do anything nowadays and it's slower.
Doing Wanted in Kryta quests is about 10-15 minutes for ~6K. Zaishen Bounty/Missions are about 20-30 minutes and give you Z-coins you can use for equipment packs or flames of balthazar (as well as a 750g-1k bounty usually).
Don't worry about optional quests unless you want to do them, HoM (Hall of monuments) doesn't count quests anyway.
Just make sure you have +20% enchanting. Kepkhet's Refuge is fine.

I run PvP builds in PvE because I'm a boss.
i run 12+1+1 heal, 5 Divine, 8+1 prot and 9 tactics.
build is
Disciplined, Holy veil, patient spirit, dismiss conditions (or draw conditions), cure hex, guardian, infuse health (haters gonna hate), and WoH. Ive been running this build for years, it works beautifully even in PvE.

I'd dump tactics to 7 (6/14 shield) and pump DF to 8+1... healing burst is better in PVE imo
There's no point in disciplined stance in PVE since you can run I am unstoppable which can't be removed
Also you have no power prots (Prot spirit/Spirit bond)

iau on a monk? what a waste of a skill. 1) u shouldn't be taking damage with any half decent agro control and 2) if you do, prot spirit lets u tank and self heal with impunity. In pve, any similar skills, e.g shadow sanctuary are a complete waste of time. res, heal or more prot are far better options
